| Description: | Text on image: "Aftab Ahmed of Pakistan received the first degree of Doctor of Public Administration to be conferred by The George Washington University at the annual commencement in the university's 144th year. He earned the degree in the School of Government, Business, and International Affairs. He passed the final oral examination on April 21, 1965, and returned to Pakistan before the commencement so the degree was conferred in absentia. His wife worked in the University Library during her husband's period of study. He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (1943) and Master of Arts (1946) from the University of the Panjab, West Pakistan. Upon his return to Pakistan he expected to head a school for the training of public administrators in Lahore. He is shown with Dr. Harold F.
