ACLU notes: Investigation into the abuse (hitting and kicking) of several detainees. The detainees were captured for supposedly threatening soldiers with weapons and making false passports. When asked if his actions were appropriate, one soldier replied, "In a way yes and no. Yes because I know two of those guys could have killed a lot of soldiers and one could have made another attack on America. No, because I felt that I stepped out of line" (DODDOA 026947).
